"Bill" William W.
Pearson
Dec 23, 1934 — Jun 22, 2026
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." ~Psalm 116:15
Pastor “Bill” William W. Pearson, 91, of McMahan, TX went to his Heavenly home to be with Jesus, Monday, June 22, 2026.
Bill was born in Taylor, TX Dec. 23, 1934, to Ebba Lundin Nero and raised by his aunt and uncle, Martha and Leonard Broman. He lived in the Lund/New Sweden community before moving to Austin, where he graduated from Austin High School in 1954. He served in the Texas Army National Guard for nine years.
Bill was a cowboy and horseman most of his life. He was a member of the Travis County Sheriff’s Posse, riding in various events and parades and often acting as security. As a young man, he ran a boarding stable and gave riding lessons. He later hired out as a part-time cowboy on the weekends, helping round up and work cattle. He also enjoyed competing in calf penning events. He could cut a calf from a herd like nobody’s business and rode horseback into his 80s.
Bill had various jobs through the years, including working at a cotton gin in west Texas, as a printer, a delivery driver and then a livestock inspector for the Texas Animal Health Commission, where worked for 14 years. In 1982, he began employment at the Lower Colorado River Authority, where he retired in 1995, after 13 years of service.
In 1990, Bill was ordained as a minister and began his Christian ministry—fulfilling his true calling, to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He preached at nursing homes, had a jail ministry, was a guest preacher, an interim pastor and “held church” at various cowboy events.
In 1997, he and his wife, Audrey, founded Christian Country Fellowship, formerly Penning for Jesus Cowboy Church, where he pastored for 28 years. During those years of ministry, he impacted many, many lives and helped countless people accept Jesus as their Lord. He was 91 years old when he stepped away from the pulpit, but even then, he never stopped sharing about Jesus. Throughout his ministry he took every opportunity to share “how to get to Heaven” with those he encountered.
Bill married Karen Arrington Nov. 12, 1958, and they had two daughters. After battling cancer, Karen passed away in 1977. Bill married Audrey Green Formby March 31, 1978, creating a blended family of one son and three daughters.
Bill will be greatly missed by his loving family. He leaves behind four children: DeWayne Formby of Houston, TX; Barbara Turner of McMahan, TX; DeAnne Hart of Leander, TX; and Sarah Hoffman (Jason) of Cedar Creek, TX. He was affectionately known as “Butcherpal” by his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind a close-knit church family and many ministry friends who loved him deeply.
Bill was proceeded in death by wife, Karen Pearson; mother, Ebba Nero; stepfather, Ernest Nero; aunt, Martha Broman; uncle, Leonard Broman; brother, Charles Pearson; and son-in-law, Ronnie Turner.
