Betty Slater

Heaven gained an angel, Dora Jannette "Betty" Slater, of Bastrop, Tx, on October 26, 2023, at the age of 95.

She was born October 12th, 1928, in Hamlin, Tx to Luther and Mamie Hood. She lived a life full of love as a homemaker. She was a nurturer by nature and cared deeply for those in her life. To know her was to truly love her.

She was a loving Wife to her husband Daniel "Dan" Slater, Mother to her 2 sons, Steven "Steve" and Jerry Slater, Grandmother to Allison Slater, Krystal Satterfield (Randy), Angela Lewis (Shea), Justin Slater, and Alexis Slater as well as a Great-Grandmother to 7. She joins in heaven, her husband Daniel and son Jerry.

Serving as pallbearers: John Miller, Justin Slater, Jimmy Zapalac, Randy Satterfield, Shea Lewis, and Nathan Herring.

Serving as honorary pallbearers: Kyle Lewis and Dale Bartley.

Friends and family are invited to say their final goodbyes to Betty at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, TX on November 1st from 5-7p.m. Funeral services will be held November 2nd at 1p.m. With graveside services to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

The family request that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to her favorite charities, St. Jude's Hospital and the SPCA.
