Barry K. Voigt was born in Bastrop, Texas on October 21, 1957, the son of Billie L. and Muriel (Hemphill) Voigt. He passed away on July 21, 2023 in Austin, Texas.
Barry attended Bastrop schools where he played football, ran track, and took a special interest in chemistry. He attended Southwest Texas State University “SWT” (now Texas State University) in San Marcos and graduated with BS and MS degrees in Chemistry. While at SWT, he met fellow chemistry student, Linda A. Bendele. He and Linda fell in love, were married in High Grove on May 25, 1990, and shared their life together in Austin.
Barry was employed by various semiconductor companies, including AMD, Motorola, and Freescale Semiconductor where, prior to his retirement, he was the engineer in charge of Freescale’s semiconductor cleanrooms. Barry enjoyed observing and sustaining wildlife in High Grove, listening to great music (particularly Southern rock), and hanging out with his friends. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles, shopping for cars (for himself and others), and spending time with Linda and their succession of wonderful dogs.
Barry was intelligent, fun-loving, and philosophical. He leaves behind his wife Linda, his sister Denny and her partner, Frank, several cousins, dear friends, and good neighbors. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
