Barbara Hollmann

Barbara Alice Hollmann, 86, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021.

Barbara and husband Bobby "RC" moved the family to Bastrop, Texas in 1969. Bobby became the principal at the elementary school and Barbara went to work for the Junior High Office and later moved on to the Bastrop ISD Tax Office. She was the first one up in the mornings and had breakfast and  lunches made before her children were up. She made sure they had all they needed for school and their activities. She enjoyed sewing, was an avid reader, and liked taking her children to the city swimming pool. She was thrilled when her first grandchild was born and lovingly welcomed each one thereafter.  After a major stroke in 1986 left her partially paralyzed, she was no longer able to work and her activities were limited, however, she continued to sew with one hand.  She also enjoyed a cup of coffee and reading the paper every morning. Barbara insisted, ”Everything’s fine. I’m fine right now.”

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Ivan and Florence Marie Ovenden; husband of 54 years, Robert Carl (Bobby) Hollmann.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Gary Adolph Hollmann and Wm. Greg (Dana) Hollmann; daughters, Brenda Joyce (Bobby) Winkler and Gaye Hollmann Tate; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop. The rosary will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 10:30am at Ascension Catholic church in Bastrop followed by mass at 11:00am. Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
