Archie Whatley

March 15, 1930 — December 26, 2016

Archie Edwin Whatley, 86, of Red Rock, Texas passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016, at the Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing And Rehabilitation Center with his daughter at his side. Archie was born on March 15, 1930, in DeQuincy, Louisiana.

He served in The U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later served as a member of the Beaumont Fire
Department for 22 years, retiring in the early 1970's as a captain with the department. After retirement Archie and his wife Nelda started raising and training race horses in Red Rock. They also trained and raced in El Paso, Texas and Ruidoso, New Mexico before moving back to Red Rock around 2006.

Archie was preceded in death by a daughter; Nedsa Bienek and a grandson Beau Whatley. He is survived by his wife, Nelda Whatley, his son, Charles Whatley, a daughter, Linda Frazier and her husband Kenneth, 3 grandchildren, Charles Jones, Angela Frazier and Gregg Frazier, 3 great grandchildren, Lynden Jacobs, Lane Jacobs and Chance Jones. He also leaves behind a multitude of family and friends whose lives were touched by Archie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution in Archie's name to Guiding Hospice Care in Round Rock, Texas or The Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing And Rehabilitation Center in Bastrop, Texas.

A Memorial service will be held for Archie at 6:00pm on January 7, 2017 at Bastrop Lost Pines
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Old Austin Highway in Bastrop.
